Cripes, how many times have you heard this? However whether we like it or not it’s a fact and being overweight is not good for our health. Like me most of you probably know why you are overweight, how to eat properly, get enough exercise and the fact that you need to change your lifestyle. So why don’t we / I DON’T KNOW. The experts …#34;like on the Oprah show say it’s because we have an underlying emotional problem. Maybe I do, maybe I don’t but the fact is I think I am happy. Sure I would like to get into those old jeans …#34;and I will someday. Ah..I think I have just hit the nail on the head Procrastination!!!! That’s it!! Tomorrow..tomorrow I’ll do it tomorrow!!!!
Well that’s now over. I will start today. So I began researching. You might note researching not dieting! Well it’s a start any way……
Here’s what I found; • Diets that promise fast weight loss with hardly any effort don’t give you the skills you need to maintain your weight loss; in some cases, these quick fix weight loss routines can even be seriously detrimental to your health. • Studies now show that dieting is the precursor to developing deadly diseases. • Dieting alienates us from the natural process of hunger and sets us up for the real physical side effects of dieting, resulting in women and men who have learned to ignore their own "survival mechanisms" and literally starve and binge themselves to death. • Medications aren't "magic cures" leading to permanent weight loss
The truth hurts doesn’t it?
But here’s how to lose weight and be happy. When it comes to losing weight, most weight loss experts will tell you that it is not about dieting. So here are some useful tips • Establish a routine that suits your lifestyle. • Never skip breakfast. This is what “kick starts†your metabolism • Eat in moderation. Unlearn what you’ve been taught up to now. It’s not the different food groups that make you fat it’s the amount of them you eat! • Exercise. I can hear you now.-“I knew she would say thatâ€. The good news is that you don’t have to become a gym bunny you can; take a walk with a loved one, do gardening, do housework(yuk!), wash the car, walk up a flight of stairs instead of taking the escalator etc etc-remember its all exercise!
Remember it’s what suits you, what makes you happy. Well I am off to have a glass of wine with my lasagna-all in moderation of course!
