How To Lose The Fat For Good
How to lose the fat for good is a question that millions of people ask every day. And there seem to be millions of answers to that question.
Well, the truth is that you'll never have a better time than now to learn how to lose the fat because every day you get a little older and every day your body's metabolism is taking another step toward old age.
Some things do get better with age, of course, but the ability to lose weight and fat isn't usually one of them. You can reach your weight loss goal though, if you follow some very simple tactics.
How to lose the fat - Start today!
Honestly, even the most difficult things in life get easier if you just start taking some action now. I mean right now. Don't resolve to 'do something' next week. Don't wait for New Year's. There's always a reason to put things off, but success comes from action and you already know the formula - do something!
We all know about the 'special' day that's perfect for starting a new exercise regime, or a diet, or giving up smoking, or looking for a raise, or doing anything that takes a little bit of commitment. Ever wondered why that day is never today? It's the brain's way of fooling you into doing nothing.
"I'll start Monday". Why? Why not today? "Come January 1st it all changes". Yeah, tell me why not today?
We all do it and yet we all know better - don't we?
How to lose the fat - Move It!
Ever seen those exercise addicts going to a gym? The ones who run 40 miles, swim for 3 hours and then lift 1,500 pounds to get buff? Well guess what, you don't have to do that to lose the fat.
There's no point almost killing yourself by trying to exercise like a pro if you're not a pro. But there is every point in making time for some movement in your life every day.
So you do have to move a little bit, even if it's only some gentle stretching, or walking. In fact walking is wonderful for losing the fat and toning up at the same time. A few minutes a few times a week strolling in pleasant surroundings like a park will do you more good than you can possibly imagine, on so many levels. The price is good too - it's free.
TIP: Don't assume that you have to get ready to compete in the Olympics to become healthier and slimmer. You only need to start where you are right now and make some small changes to what you do regularly to see big changes over time.
And regular movement will do something else that's pretty wonderful. It will give you improved energy levels, so it gets even easier to do it. Your muscles will tone up, your bone density will improve and you'll find you're more flexible than before.
There's something else that regular movement will do for you, especially if you get plenty of good, fresh air into your body at the same time. You'll gain a mental sharpness. A clear head does wonders for helping you see exactly what you should and shouldn't do as regards your health. You'll find your mood improves too and you're less likely to feel down, or depressed.
How to lose the fat - Severely restrict your calorie intake: NOT!
Honestly, if you virtually starve yourself you're going to undermine everything you try to achieve. If you've ever dieted in the past you already know that diets don't really work. You probably wouldn't be reading this right now if they did. Look, if you want to go eat every candy bar you ever see and scarf down triple double whammy mega burgers with a side of grease you will keep gaining weight.
But that doesn't mean you have to starve to lose weight. And if you fool yourself by thinking that it will work, I'm afraid you won't fool your body's metabolism. Nature equipped you with a survival mechanism and if you go on a DIET your body will make sure it doesn't starve to death. Your body will actually hold onto calories faster and more tenaciously than ever before. By the way, notice what the first 3 letters of the word diet spell?
Does this sound familiar? You cut way back on your food and portion size and you start losing weight. After a few days to a few weeks the weight loss stops, even though you're not eating enough to feed a rabbit. Has that ever happened to you more than once on a diet?
Starvation leads to death. Over-eating leads to weight gain. High quality nutrition leads to health. Do the math if you want to know how to lose the fat.
How to lose the fat - Stay motivated
Motivation is the number 1 reason people give up on their weight loss journey. If you don't get motivated and stay motivated you won't keep doing whatever you're doing, even if it's working.
You're not going to lose 100 pounds by next week, period. So don't even try. Get realistic about what you can do. Then make your start.
To keep your motivation going you can use external and internal motivation. External motivation works well while it's being applied, but as soon as you take it away the benefit stops. Proper internal motivation is like an unstoppable force that works within you and propels you forward.
You know it's hard to lose the weight - you've most likely already been there and experienced that first hand. What you may not know is that it can be easy to lose the weight if you get motivated right in the first place. And remember that nobody woke up one morning 100 pounds heavier than the night before so you sure won't wake up 100 pounds lighter tomorrow. But by motivating yourself to keep going, that morning will come when you will wake up lighter and slimmer.
